Textron Systems, Wilmington, Mass., a developer of surveillance systems and intelligence software solutions, has announced the appointment of Jack Cronin as chief strategy officer. Effective May 24, 2010, Cronin will be responsible for the company’s comprehensive growth strategy including domestic and international business development, advanced systems and technology, strategic initiatives, and mergers and acquisitions. Cronin will report to Fred Strader, Textron Systems president and chief executive officer.
Previously, Cronin was a senior vice president of Alliant Techsystems (ATK) and president, ATK Mission Systems Group. In this position, Cronin led a complex business through a period of steady growth. Prior to ATK, Cronin was president of Raytheon Systems Ltd. in the United Kingdom where he led significant improvements in the profitability and productivity of the business. He also held senior strategy, program and engineering positions over his 20 year career with Raytheon. Cronin served as a commissioned officer and Army Aviator in the active Army and the New Hampshire National Guard. He holds a master's degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California and a bachelor's degree in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
