Arastoo Jahan-Afrooz is a data analyst at Development Services Group (DSG), specializing in counterterrorism and counter violent extremism. He is a researcher for the Global Terrorism Trends and Analysis Center for the Bureau of Counterterrorism of the U.S. Department of State, where he focuses on the methodological techniques to analyze terrorist incidents and trends as well as providing the data and analysis of terrorism and violence worldwide. His research focuses on global terrorist organizations including violent state and non-state actors with a particular emphasis on conflict dynamics in Syria. His recent publications have focused on armed groups that have involved in the Syrian civil war. He contributes valuable insights through advanced data-driven analytical methods and policy-oriented research. He earned his M.A. in international security and intelligence from George Mason University.
