Vencore Labs asserts this platform to be a first-of-its-kind wireless network intrusion, detection, and prevention system. It is designed to provide real time network health, threat detection, security analysis, and visualization of the process itself.
The benefits of SecureSmart include actively monitoring the Smart Grid Infrastructure, detection of infrastructure vulnerabilities, enhancing utility confidence, enabling of faster problem resolutions, and others.
The platform provides security to infrastructure by enabling utilities to detect the first signs of a cyberattack on wireless AMI/DA networks. AMI are systems that measure, collect, and analyze energy usage, and communicate with metering devices such as electricity meters, gas meters, heat meters, and water meters, either on request or on a schedule.
The technology, in combination with Vencore’s cyber threat analysis team, will allow greater visibility of critical networks for security, operations/engineering staff, and technicians by providing them with accurate and actionable intelligence.
The announcement emerges amid heightened concern over the vulnerability of US critical infrastructure, especially in the wake of the recent attack of Ukraine’s power grid.
