McAleenan Urges Swift Action to Pass Bill as Senate Approves Additional $4.5 Million for Border Crisis

Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin K. McAleenan released a statement on June 26 after the Senate passed an emergency spending bill to provide the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Health and Human Services with an additional $4.5 billion to address the crisis at the border:

“Today the Senate demonstrated their bipartisan commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis at our border and supporting the men and women of DHS.  This emergency funding addresses the immediate and dire need to provide safe care for the children and families coming across our border at unprecedented levels,” said McAleenan.

He added: “I urge lawmakers to work together quickly and collaboratively to swiftly pass a bill.”
