A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) operations manager was killed while on duty Thursday in a vehicle crash on Highway 2 near Crookston, Minn.
CBP announced Saturday that Christopher T. Bacon, 51, died in the collision. Authorities reported no other fatalities or serious injuries.
“I am deeply saddened by the death of CBP Office of Intelligence Collection Operations Manager Christopher T. Bacon,” said Dave Auwen, field director of the Great Lakes Field Intelligence Group. “Our hearts go out to the family, friends and co-workers of Chris during this difficult time.”
Bacon served CBP for 22 years, the agency said. He began his career in 1995 as a Border Patrol agent and later served as an air enforcement agent before being promoted to his most recent position. He is survived by his wife and four children.
Minnesota state troopers were investigating the accident.
