CBP Recognized as One of the Best Companies for Veterans by Monster.com

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has again been recognized by Monster.com as one of the “Best Companies for Veterans,” a list compiled yearly by a panel of veteran employment experts based on standout veteran hiring and retention practices. Placing third out of 10 companies, CBP is the only Federal agency on the list, a distinction CBP has earned for the third consecutive year.

“CBP is honored and proud to be recognized on this list for the third year in a row. Veterans, who represent nearly 30 percent of our workforce, make CBP a stronger agency,” said Commissioner Kevin McAleenan. “As Veterans Day approaches, CBP salutes the men and women who have committed to take on America’s toughest challenges and we stand dedicated to providing quality career opportunities to America’s transitioning service members, veterans, and veterans with disabilities.”

In the last 12 months, CBP continued to direct a large portion of its recruitment capabilities toward veterans and transitioning service members, one of the most important communities in the Agency’s overall staffing effort. To promote CBP job opportunities, the Agency hosts “CBP Day” workshops at a variety of military installations to provide an overview of CBP and information about the hiring process, the polygraph exam, and tips on resume writing. CBP also participates in military transition summits and career fairs at military installations across the United States to include: Ft. Bliss, Ft. Bragg, Ft. Campbell, Ft. Hood, Ft. Drum, Camp Lejeune, and Joint Base Lewis McChord.

One of the reasons CBP is attractive to veterans is the Agency’s continued focus on supporting its existing veteran personnel. For example, CBP recently established the “Veteran Support Program,” which creates a veteran community within CBP, provides veteran-to-veteran assistance to CBP employees, and ensures CBP veterans are kept abreast of resources and benefits.
