Summit Technical Solutions, LLC (STS) announced that its mentor-protégé program with Iron Mountain has been approved by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization. The DHS Mentor-Protégé program is designed to encourage large, established prime contractors to help further develop the technical and management capabilities of small businesses. STS is the first participant in the Iron Mountain small-business mentor-protégé program with DHS.

"We are excited about the opportunity to jointly pursue opportunities at DHS with Iron Mountain, and to benefit from the wealth of experience of a successful large prime contractor," said Kelly Terrien, STS’ President and CEO. "Iron Mountain has a great reputation for providing high-quality services in support of federal initiatives for records and data management, and directed information destruction. This agreement will enable us to strengthen and solidify our business relationship with one of the premier records storage and retrieval companies in the US federal government sector."

The DHS Mentor-Protégé program is designed to motivate and encourage large-business contractors to provide mutually beneficial developmental assistance to small business concerns. The program is also designed to improve the performance of DHS contracts and subcontracts, foster the establishment of long-term business relationships between DHS large contractors and small contractors, and strengthen contract opportunities and accomplishments at DHS.

"We are very pleased to receive this approval from the DHS, which will further enhance our relationship with STS," said Mike Lewis, General Manager, Iron Mountain. "We congratulate Summit Technical Solutions for receiving the DHS 2016 Small Business Achievement Award for its outstanding work in support of the DHS mission. Iron Mountain recognizes Summit Technical Solutions’ expertise in developing and delivering federal government Records Management solutions, and the potential benefit to DHS, we believe the DHS Mentor-Protégé program is an ideal way to create and deliver value to DHS, as we create opportunities for growth between the two companies."
