The Department of Homeland Security’s SAFETY Act designation — which provides important legal liability protections for providers of qualified countererrorism Technologies – has been awarded to Centerra Group, LLC, a global government and critical infrastructure services company.
The goal of the SAFETY Act is to encourage the development and deployment of effective anti-terrorism products or services by providing liability protections.
Centerra said the following services fall under Centerra’s designation and apply to nearly a dozen federal departments and agencies:
- Armed and Unarmed Guard Services – provides the personnel, training, equipment and supervision for a uniformed guard services to accomplish comprehensive physical security services;
- Specialized Security Forces – provides a force of specially trained personnel comprised of special police officers and support staff. These teams are specially selected and trained in weaponry, equipment, and counter-terrorism tactics to respond to and neutralize an opposing force of dedicated adversaries; and
- Fire protection and emergency response services – provides personnel trained to respond, manage, contain, control, and mitigate fire emergencies, including those occurring from weapons of mass destruction incidents.
