FEMA Awards $30 Million MT-1 Processing ServicesContract

A $30.1 million technical services contract in support of Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) National MT-1 Processing Services project recently was awarded to North Wind Resource Partners JV (NWRP), which is comprised of North Wind Resource Consulting, LLC and Michael Baker, Jr., Inc., (a Michael Baker International company).

NWRP is a Small Business Administration (SBA)-certified small business joint venture that qualifies for small business status through the special provisions of the SBA-approved Mentor-Protégé agreement between the SBA, North Wind Resource Consulting and Michael Baker. The task order-based contract consists of one base year plus four, one-year options and is valued at just over $30 million.

Specifically, NWRP will deliver technical services in support of FEMA’s National MT-1 Processing Services project in support of FEMA’s Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) Program. MT-1 Processing Services allows property owners to submit scientific or technical data to FEMA to determine the mandatory flood insurance purchase requirement for their property.

“We remain focused on our long-standing relationship with FEMA,” said Michael Baker International’s Jeff Sparrow, senior vice president and FEMA Market National Director. “Our joint venture agreement with North Wind and the SBA is an important step toward demonstrating our collective commitment in support of FEMA’s mission. We look forward to the growth opportunities this contract presents.”

“Michael Baker International has worked extensively over the past 40 years with FEMA in a number of capacities including FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) during that entire period,” added Michael Baker International project manager Dan Natale. “These important programs make a real difference in the communities at risk of flooding, and our efforts on the MT-1 Services Process project will add great value to the individual property owners in these regions.”
