PreCheck Enrollment Coming to Hector International Airport

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced  that residents of the Fargo – Moorhead area can make an appointment now to enroll in TSA PreCheck at Hector International Airport.

Enrollment will run from Monday, October 26 until Friday, October 30. The enrollment center will be open from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day and will be located in the airport conference room on the second floor of the passenger terminal. The airport is located at 2801  – 32nd Avenue North in Fargo.

At airports across the country, travelers eligible for TSA PreCheck screening can leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt when going through the security checkpoint. In dedicated TSA PreCheck lanes, travelers do not need to remove their laptops, electronics  larger  than a cell phone or travel-size liquids from their carry-on luggage further streamlining the security screening process.

“During the coronavirus pandemic, people are looking for ways to protect their health and reduce touchpoints when traveling through an airport. TSA PreCheck provides that option,” said TSA Federal Security Director for North Dakota David Durgan.  “With TSA PreCheck,  there is no need for  travelers to remove items from their carry-on luggage, significantly reducing  the potential  for cross- contamination. Now is an ideal time for people to make an appointment to enroll in TSA PreCheck to ensure that they ‘Stay Healthy. Stay Secure.’ when traveling.”

An in-person visit to the enrollment center is required to complete the application process. Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver license and a certified copy of a birth certificate. Fingerprints will be collected during enrollment.

While walk-ins are accepted, people are strongly encouraged to begin the enrollment process online and make an appointment for the in-person visit. Start by visiting www.tsa.gov/precheck and select  “Apply Now.” Follow the online prompts, enter the requested information and select “Fargo,  ND”  as  the enrollment location.

The enrollment fee is $85, which covers a five-year period. The fee must be paid at the time of enrollment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check.

To date, more than 10.5 million people have  enrolled  in  TSA PreCheck. In August 2020, on average, 99% of travelers eligible for TSA PreCheck waited five minutes or less to be screened through security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Another benefit of the program is that children 12 and under are permitted to use the TSA PreCheck lane when traveling with an eligible parent or guardian on the same itinerary.

Seventy-three airlines, including domestic and international carriers, participate in TSA PreCheck, giving travelers even more options and reasons to enroll in the program. All airlines serving Hector International Airport participate in TSA PreCheck.
