Coast Guard Delivers 13 Tons of Seized Drugs to Port Everglades

The 12 tons of cocaine and one ton of marijuana that were delivered to Port Everglades by the Coast Guard Cutter Legare Tuesday cost drug dealers some $400 million in wholesale proceeds, officials said.

According to the Coast Guard, the drugs offloaded from the cutter were seized recently in international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean during 17 separate interdictions.

Coast Guard vessels and ships from the Canadian Navy were involved in the seizures off the coasts of Mexico and Central and South America, officials said.
