“Semper Paratus” is one of four finalists in the documentary category at the Boston Drone Film Festival on Nov. 15-16.
The film focuses on Coast Guard Station Quillayute River in La Push, Wash., one of 20 surf stations in the USCG and the northernmost on the West Coast.
The drone photography captures crews weathering the breaks and managing tumultuous seas so they can reach people in need despite the tough surf.
The filmmaker, John Gussman, uses low-altitude UAVs in his Doubleclick Productions. “Just going out and buying a drone does not make someone a good aerial photographer,” he says on his website. “Combining the skill set of hundreds of hours of UAV piloting with the experienced eye of a professional photographer will guarantee you top quality results.”
The 2019 Boston Drone Film Festival celebrates the creative pursuit of the best drone cinematographers and drone photographers from around the world.
