President Trump announced he will nominate Dr. Lisa Porter as deputy under secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering.
Most recently, Porter served as executive vice president and director of In-Q-Tel Labs (IQT).
Before this, she was the president of Teledyne Scientific & Imaging, and she also held the position of first director of the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. She has also served as associate administrator for aeronautics at NASA and as a program manager in the Advanced Technology Office at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
Porter has a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute for Technology and a doctorate in applied physics from Stanford University.
If confirmed, Porter will join new Research and Engineering Undersecretary Michael Griffin, who also worked at In-Q-Tel Labs, in the new office.
