ASP Wins Public Safety Product Innovation Award

Armament Systems and Procedures’ new Transport Kit has won the 2019 Public Safety Product Innovation Award from the North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors (NAUMD). The award was presented at the recent NAUMD convention, held jointly with the National Association of Police Equipment Distributors (NAPED) in New Orleans.

The Transport Kit comprises either a chain or belt waist restraint that integrates with ASP’s Rigid Ultra Cuffs. The design and construction of the system allows the waist component to be applied, adjusted or removed without having to adjust or remove the handcuffs, and features a lock that auto-engages without a key present or exposed. All of this adds up to improved speed and efficiency—and most importantly safety—when restraining prisoners or detainees. The Transport Kit restrains the arms in front of the subject, for more comfort and reduced risk of injury when seated for long periods of time in vehicles, aircraft or in courtroom appearances.

ASP Vice President of Sales Daryell Harmon says that the industry response to the Transport Kit has been the most dramatic of any of the company’s recent product launches. “The number of Testing and Evaluation requests from around the world has been overwhelming,” says Harmon. “Correctional facilities and law enforcement agencies immediately recognize the benefits of the new system, and especially appreciate the officer safety considerations.”

“ASP winning the Best Public Safety Product Innovation category for their Transport Kit exemplifies the reason we created this award,” says NAUMD President Steve Zalkin. “Just two years ago, a local Deputy was killed, and a second Deputy injured when a convict escaped during transport and took one of the deputies’ firearms. ASP has created a product that enhances law enforcement safety, and NAUMD is proud to honor them with this award.”

The ASP Transport Kit, in both chain and belt versions, is shipping now and available from law enforcement distributors worldwide. For more information, visit www.asp-usa.com
