Bridget Chatman, Vice President at SAIC, has been honored with the prestigious Women of Color (WoC) STEM 2024 Technologist of the Year Award. Chatman expressed her gratitude, stating her honor to represent SAIC at the event celebrating women of color in STEM. She acknowledged the unwavering commitment of SAIC’s Executive Leadership Team to investing in women through comprehensive technical and professional development programs.
With over 30 years of experience in the commercial, federal, state, and local government sectors, Chatman has led business transformation and enterprise initiatives that drive growth, innovation, and mission-specific customer value in aviation, space, national intelligence, and defense domains. Her extensive experience in product, professional services, digital, and advanced technology solutions sales has established her as a leader in her field. Chatman’s ability to deliver impact and growth in complex and competitive markets, coupled with her reputation for solving tough problems through creative and innovative solutions, continues to inspire her daily.
Chatman’s dedication to advancing inclusion is equally remarkable. She serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for Women in Aerospace, the first Black woman to lead this global organization promoting the advancement and recognition of women in Aerospace. As a White House Vice Presidential appointee to the National Space Council’s User Advisory Group, she provides strategic advice on space policy and programs. She is also a co-creator of Space4All, a national awareness campaign designed to promote the benefits of space on earth and inspire underrepresented students to pursue STEM, space, and related careers.
Chatman has been instrumental in creating SAIC’s AcceleratHER Women’s Leadership Academy, through which hundreds of women have advanced their careers. Additionally, she founded and chaired the WashingtonExec DEI Council and served on the board of the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship, focusing on key programs for veterans. Her accolades include the Washington Business Journal’s Diversity Award and People on the Move recognition. She is a silver star member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and an alum of McKinsey’s Black Executive Program. Her previous employers include IBM, Raytheon, and Johnson & Johnson.
The Women of Color (WoC) STEM Awards recognize the best of the best, celebrating the work of a lifetime. Each year, the WoC judges select award recipients from a talented pool of promising college students, new hires, mid-career professionals, managers, C-suite executives, innovators, inventors, and change agents.
