Conference to Help Organizations Guide Emergency and Disaster Planning

There is no time to “learn” how to be a crisis manager, while the crisis is occurring. Are you ready?

Harkcon Academy recently announced that registration is now open for “Navigating the Crisis: Before, During, and After,” a one-day conference focused on preparing your organization for, and guiding it through, emergencies, disasters and critical incidents. The conference will be held on April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies. Tickets are $150 but are being offered for only $125 if purchased before March 20. The registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, and a closing beer and wine reception.

The conference will host several distinguished speakers, including crisis leadership experts, safety and security experts, and more. Featured speakers include Dean of Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies Kelly J. Otter, Ph.D.; Dr. Kevin Harkins, CEO of Harkcon; Brad Kieserman, vice president of Disaster Operations and Logistics, American Red Cross; and retired U.S. Coast Guard Adm. Dean Lee.

Other speakers include Jeff Stern, Virginia State coordinator of Emergency Management; Chris Geldart, chief operating officer of Priority 5 Holdings, Inc. and former director, District of Columbia Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency; Tonya Coultas, assistant vice president (AVP) for Safety, Security & Emergency Management at Georgetown University; Nitin Natarajan, principal of the Cadmus Group, Inc. and former deputy assistant administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency; Julie Myers Wood, CEO of Guidepost Solutions, LLC and former assistant secretary for Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement; David J. Kaufman, vice president and director of Safety and Security at CAN, as well as the former associate administrator for Policy, Program Analysis, and International Affairs at the Federal Emergency Management Agency; Navy SEAL Command Master Chief William Dewilde (Ret.), independent executive leadership advisor and business devolvement professional; Tom Atkin, founder & managing partner of The Atkin Group and former acting assistant secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Global Security; Phil Anderson, Ph.D., associate director of Research and Innovation at Northeastern University Global Resilience Institute.
