Symetrica Reveals ‘Radioactive Threat Verification Solutions Hub’

Symetrica Reveals ‘Radioactive Threat Verification Solutions Hub’ Homeland Security TodayThe combat all forms of terrorism and destruction requires public and private coordination on an international level. In support of this goal, Symetrica, a UK-based developer of radiation detection technology, has announced the launch of the company’s new ‘Radioactive Threat Verification Solutions Hub’ (RTV Solutions Hub) dedicated to progressing threat verification solutions that support the evolving needs of the global security community.

The new facility will improve the company’s ability to support the UK’s Home Office and Border Force, the US Department of Homeland Security, and other border protection agencies worldwide.

Symetrica’s CEO, Heddwyn Davies, stated, “Symetrica’s RTV Solutions Hub reflects our desire to widen the existing dialogue and strengthen relationships not only with government representatives, procurement agencies and end users but also with the local community, including universities and students, and to demonstrate Symetrica’s contribution to the growing possibilities in the radiation detection industry."

The RTV Solutions hub will focus efforts on imminent global procurement programs for handheld radio-isotope identifiers (RIIDs), fixed and mobile radiation portal monitors (RPMs) and other radiation identification and detection equipment. Symetrica’s handheld RIIDs are used by the DHS’s Customs and Border Protection agency and the US Coast Guard to find any presence of radioactive sources.

In addition to outfitting entire vans for detection, Mobile RPMs are devised as a rooftop, demountable solution for exposing mobile radiation. Stationary portals are designed to screen personnel, cars, trucks, and containerized cargo.

“The investment in a dedicated RTV Solutions Hub demonstrates Symetrica’s ongoing commitment to providing the technology and support that global agencies need to address ever-evolving security threats,” said Caroline Nokes MP, who inaugurated the new facility.
