The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has awarded multiple contracts under its Pilot IRS Request for Scanning as a Service program.
The contracts aim to meet the IRS’ needs in digitalizing paper files. IRS receives a multitude of paper documents in various sizes and appearances, some may be printed and some handwritten, some may be loose and others may be bound.
The IRS is therefore looking for innovative solutions to digitalize paper documents and transmit the digital files back to the IRS via a digital channel. This may be limited to scanning paper and transmitting digital files, or machine-readable data may need to be extracted. The initial focus will be on scanning paper documents. The volume contemplated is significant, with the initial potential use case having at least 1 billion pages.
The awardees are Brillient Corporation, Ripcord Inc., Government CIO LLC, Xerox Corporation, and Resultant/KSM Consulting, LLC. The total contract value is $7,500,000.00.
