IRS Technology Integration Office Wins 2024 FORUM Innovation Award for Advanced Tool

The IRS IT/Applications Development (AD) Domain’s Technology Integration Office (TIO) has been honored with the 2024 FORUM Innovation Award for their outstanding work on the Portfolio Rationalization Platform. Retired Associate CIO for AD, Rob Ragano, and Darryl Scott, Director of Maximus Federal Services, Inc. were present to accept the award, recognizing the dedicated efforts behind this advanced business intelligence (BI) tool.

The Portfolio Rationalization Platform has significantly transformed the IRS’s approach to managing its technology stack. Over the past decade, the project has evolved from a simple spreadsheet to a sophisticated platform that leverages multiple data sources and advanced analytical tools. This innovation has enabled the IRS to save resources and time while making informed, data-driven decisions across more than 400 IRS applications.

The FORUM Innovation Awards annually celebrate top IT programs within the Federal Technology and Consulting communities. These awards highlight programs that push the boundaries of technology, showcase groundbreaking innovations, and reward leadership and teamwork that enhance and advance each agency’s mission. This year’s recognition of the IRS IT/Applications Development team underscores their success in achieving these goals through the Portfolio Rationalization Platform.

The award-winning platform exemplifies how innovative solutions can drive efficiency and effectiveness in government operations. By facilitating better technology stack decisions, the Portfolio Rationalization Platform not only optimizes resources but also ensures that the IRS can continue to fulfill its mission with greater precision and agility.
