Chuck Wall Named Deputy CIO for Enterprise Applications at State Department

Chuck Wall has been named Deputy Chief Information Officer for Enterprise Applications at the U.S. Department of State, assuming responsibility for leading the modernization and management of mission-critical software systems that support the department’s global diplomatic workforce. Wall steps into the role after serving nearly a year as Acting Deputy Chief Information Officer for Enterprise Applications.

The appointment builds on a career spanning more than three decades in information technology leadership across the federal government, the military, and the private sector.

Before joining the State Department, Wall spent 12 years with the Department of Homeland Security, including nearly nine years as Information Technology Division Director. During his tenure, he led technology operations, cloud services, infrastructure modernization, and enterprise IT initiatives supporting mission-critical federal operations. Earlier, as Infrastructure Branch Chief within the Federal Protective Service, he oversaw technology support for more than 220 offices nationwide and four law enforcement dispatch and operations centers.

Wall was also recognized as a National Awardee during Homeland Security Today’s 2022 Holiday Hero Mission Awards.

Wall also served more than 21 years in the United States Marine Corps. His assignments included leadership roles at the Marine Corps Network Operations and Security Center, where he managed enterprise messaging, directory services, cybersecurity programs, and large-scale IT modernization efforts supporting tens of thousands of users. He is a Bronze Star recipient and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he served as an advisor helping train Iraqi military leaders in administration, information technology, and logistics.
