Dustin Goetz has been named acting Chief Information Officer (CIO) at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), he announced on LinkedIn. In this role, Goetz will oversee the Office of the CIO, which provides mission-critical IT services and products that support ICE and the Department of Homeland Security’s broader mission.
Goetz steps into the CIO position with more than 25 years of experience in information technology, cybersecurity, and federal program management. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of IT Operations at DHS. Before that, he served as Deputy Executive Director for Headquarters Operations and earlier as Division Chief for Enterprise Operations.
Earlier in his career, Goetz held leadership positions at U.S. Customs and Border Protection as Director of the Operational Support Project Branch and in the private sector with companies including STI Technologies, Telesis, and Endevor Systems. He has managed IT portfolios across federal agencies, including the Department of Defense, Department of Commerce, Department of Energy, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and DHS components such as ICE and CBP.
Goetz began his career in the U.S. Navy, serving as a Cryptologic Technician Operator. He later transitioned into private industry, where he held senior roles in government IT services and project management. Over the years, he has built expertise in IT security, certification and accreditation, strategic planning, and high-risk program recovery. He holds a Bachelor of Science in E-Business Management from the University of Phoenix.
