The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has appointed Rob T. as its new Deputy Assistant Director, a leadership role in which he will serve as the agency’s Deputy Chief Security Officer. Rob announced the news on LinkedIn, expressing enthusiasm for leading the FBI’s global security operations.
In his new position, Rob will oversee a wide range of critical security functions for the FBI’s domestic and international offices. His responsibilities include managing personnel and physical security, access control, force protection, physical security construction accreditations, the polygraph program, security clearance adjudications, and threat analysis related to internal and external risks.
Rob brings over two decades of FBI experience, including more than 10 years in management roles. His expertise spans counterintelligence, counterterrorism, violent crime, and espionage investigations. A proven leader in managing cross-functional teams, he has successfully built strategic partnerships between the FBI, the U.S. intelligence community, international partners, and the private sector to address national security threats.
Throughout his FBI career, Rob has held numerous high-profile positions. As Section Chief for Counterespionage, he directed efforts to combat insider threats and protect sensitive information from adversaries. During his tenure as Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the Baltimore Division, he managed critical operations within the region. His leadership experience also includes roles as Coordinating Supervisory Special Agent in Washington, Assistant Section Chief for the Domestic Terrorism Operations Section, and Unit Chief overseeing specialized investigative units.
Rob is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He also holds a Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph.
