JP Hayden, a former U.S. Secret Service (USSS) agent with over two decades of experience, has been appointed as the Director of Protective Security Operations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026™ according to an announcement over on his LinkedIn. In his new role, Hayden will be responsible for the comprehensive security planning and execution of protective operations for VIPs, VVIPs, heads of state (HOS), and heads of government (HOG), as well as other high-profile individuals attending World Cup matches and events at non-competition venues.
As Director of Protective Security Operations, Hayden will oversee the integration of protective security protocols, ensuring the safety of attendees through access management, transportation coordination, and vehicle screening. His role will involve close collaboration with private security teams responsible for the safety of the FIFA President, Secretary General, celebrities, high-ranking executives, and other notable guests.
Hayden will also be tasked with coordinating efforts with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to ensure a seamless security framework for both private and public guests attending FIFA World Cup 2026™ venues. His experience with the U.S. Secret Service, where he served as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Dignitary Protective Division and the Washington Field Office, has equipped him with the expertise to handle such high-level operations on a global stage.
Before his 22-year career with the U.S. Secret Service, Hayden served as a police officer with the City of Virginia Beach Police Department. His extensive background in law enforcement and protective services makes him a valuable asset to FIFA as it prepares to host one of the most widely watched and attended sporting events in the world.
