Guy Cavallo Set to Retire as OPM CIO, Reflects on Past Four Years of Transformation and Achievement

Guy Cavallo, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), has announced his retirement, marking the end of his tenure as the longest-serving CIO at OPM since 2010. In a LinkedIn post, Cavallo highlighted the transformative strides made under his leadership and shared his pride in the accomplishments of his Office of the CIO (OCIO) team.

Cavallo leaves behind a legacy of innovation and modernization, with achievements that significantly elevated OPM’s IT operations and its reputation across the federal government.

Cavallo’s tenure also garnered industry recognition, with multiple awards highlighting his leadership and contributions to government IT. Reflecting on his career at OPM, Cavallo stated: “I am incredibly proud of these and many other accomplishments of my OCIO team. It is hard to leave such a dedicated, hardworking team, but I am confident that they will continue to be one of the best IT organizations in the federal government.”

Cavallo also revealed that while he is retiring from federal service, his IT career will continue in the private sector, with details forthcoming in the weeks ahead.
