Jason Richards has taken on the role of Assistant Director of the IT Applications and Data Division (ITADD) at the FBI, bringing two decades of Bureau experience to the position.
In his new role, Richards oversees enterprise software systems, data and cloud management, and cross-domain solutions that support the FBI’s national security and law enforcement mission. ITADD develops the applications used for case and crisis management, data analytics, information management, and administration. The division also directs cybersecurity operations and deploys investigative tools that allow agents and analysts to manage intelligence, evidence, records, and threats securely.
Richards has held a series of senior leadership positions at the FBI. Most recently, he served as Deputy Assistant Director, shaping enterprise risk management and advancing IT solutions for the FBI’s intelligence program. Prior to that, he was Section Chief in the Office of the Chief Information Officer, where he led enterprise cloud strategy, innovation partnerships, and supply chain risk management.
Earlier in his career, Richards was Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the Washington Field Office, leading Joint Terrorism Task Force squads focused on detecting and disrupting international terrorism threats. He also served in leadership roles in the Counterterrorism Division and Directorate of Intelligence, following years as a supervisory special agent and trial attorney.
