Jim Reid Joins Fairfax County Department of Emergency Management & Security as County Security Manager

Jim Reid has been appointed as the County Security Manager for the Fairfax County Department of Emergency Management & Security according to his post on LinkedIn. Reid brings decades of experience in security, law enforcement, and crime prevention to his new role, where he will oversee the county’s security operations, focusing on ensuring the safety and security of Fairfax County’s residents and critical infrastructure.

Reid is also the current President of the Piedmont Regional Crime Prevention Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the crime prevention community across Northern Virginia and the broader Commonwealth of Virginia. In his role as president, Reid has led the organization in developing and delivering training programs for crime prevention professionals.

Reid’s extensive background includes a 5 year tenure with the Loudoun County Government as a Safety and Security Program Manager. His career in law enforcement began with over 30 years of service as a Police Officer for the Fairfax County Police Department, retiring in 2019. During his time with the police force, Reid also served as a Financial Crimes Detective from 2000 to 2007.

Before his career in law enforcement, Reid served as a Platoon Leader for the 229th Engineer Battalion in the U.S. Army National Guard (USARNG). He began his professional journey as an Intelligence Analyst (96B) with the 11th Special Forces Group (A) in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Reid holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University. His expertise in crime prevention, security management, and leadership makes him a valuable addition to the Fairfax County Department of Emergency Management & Security, where he is expected to enhance the county’s security posture through innovative solutions and strong leadership.
