Haiti Air Ambulance Services Inc. has announced the appointment of John M. Lyon, Esq. as the Executive Director of Friends of Haiti Air Ambulance, the organization’s global philanthropic arm dedicated to expanding support and awareness for Haiti’s only nonprofit, philanthropy-based air ambulance service. Based on Long Island, Friends of Haiti Air Ambulance advances the mission of its parent organization by engaging international partners and donors to sustain emergency medical transport and humanitarian relief efforts across Haiti.
Lyon brings over two decades of distinguished nonprofit leadership to this new role. As the former President and CEO of World Hope International, he led the organization through a period of exponential growth, expanding annual revenue from $5 million to over $24 million while eliminating debt and implementing major humanitarian programs in more than a dozen countries. His work has ranged from spearheading disaster relief efforts during the 2014 Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone, the 2021 earthquake in Haiti, to coordinating global first responder training through My Medic Training + Response, while collaborating with entities such as the Atlantic Council, FEMA, and Harvard Humanitarian Initiative. Lyon will focus on expanding resources for Haiti Air Ambulance and expanding Haiti Air Ambulance’s disaster response services globally.
