MITRE Appoints Vice Presidents for Intelligence Programs and Human Resources

MITRE announced Charles Clancy as vice president for intelligence programs, effective July 8, and Gus Bentivegna as the new vice president of human resources and talent enablement, effective immediately.

“As MITRE continues to grow our government sponsor and partnerships and deliver innovative solutions to our nation’s toughest challenges, we must also focus on enhancing and recruiting top talent,” said Jason Providakes, MITRE president and CEO. “I’m pleased to welcome world-renowned security and privacy expert Charles Clancy and talent executive Gus Bentivegna to our leadership team.”

Clancy is currently the executive director of the Hume Center for National Security at Virginia Tech and started his career leading research programs at the National Security Agency. He is an internationally recognized expert in wireless security, including 5G, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, and has led ground-breaking programs in spectrum security and cryptographic authentication. Clancy is also an entrepreneur and innovator with over 20 patents and more than 200 academic publications; he has also co-authored five books. Clancy holds a Ph.D. in computer science from University of Maryland College Park, a master’s in electrical engineering from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a bachelor’s in computer engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Bentivegna, who joined MITRE in April to enhance the talent experience and total rewards compensation and benefits programs, will expand his portfolio to lead the re-engineering of MITRE’s talent planning, recruiting and total rewards programs to compete more effectively in today’s market. Bentivegna previously served as a client relationship director, senior consultant and led the Talent Line of Business for the New England region at Willis Towers Watson, a global human capital management firm. Prior to his 18 years at Willis Towers Watson, he was responsible for a variety of human resources, change management, and communication roles at Verizon, Citibank, and Nielsen. He holds a master’s in business and communications from Fordham University and bachelor’s in psychology from Sacred Heart University.
