Mohamad El-Hamalawy Moves Into SVP & GM Role at Babel Street

Mohamad El-Hamalawy has stepped into the role of Senior Vice President and General Manager at Babel Street, a move he shared on LinkedIn. With over two decades of experience in federal government and commercial sectors, El-Hamalawy brings deep expertise in driving technology solutions that address critical challenges in border security, customs, and transnational issues.

In his new role, El-Hamalawy will oversee key initiatives for Babel Street’s Federal Civilian (FedCiv) and international clients, directing projects focused on advanced technology solutions and automation to address some of the most pressing border and security challenges today.

Over his eight years at Babel Street, El-Hamalawy has held a variety of positions, including Senior Vice President of FedCiv, Borders, and Automation; Vice President of FedCiv and Borders; Director of Automation, Customs, and International Border Programs; and Director of Portfolio Management. Each role has enabled him to refine and expand the company’s capabilities in areas that are integral to national and international security.

Before joining Babel Street, El-Hamalawy worked at STG, Inc., where he served as Task Area Manager within the DHS Office for Bombing Prevention, focusing on counter-terrorism and national security. Additionally, he held a role as Quality Control Consultant at SAIC.

El-Hamalawy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management Information Systems from American InterContinental University and is fluent in Arabic and sign languages, enhancing his ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and international partners. Certified in ITIL v3 Foundation, he brings a disciplined approach to technology management and quality assurance.
