The Department of Homeland Security has appointed Sarah Green as its new Deputy Chief Procurement Officer, according to an email shared with HSToday by DHS’s Chief Procurement Officer. The announcement marks a significant milestone for Green, who brings more than a decade of leadership experience within DHS and a strong track record of procurement reform and innovation.
In her previous role as Executive Director of the Acquisition Policy and Legislation Branch at DHS, Green played a role in modernizing procurement policy. She led high-impact initiatives, most notably the launch of the DHS Vendor Cyber Hygiene Assessment Framework.
Before joining the Office of the Chief Procurement Officer, she served as the Deputy Head of Contracting for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), where she oversaw a workforce of more than 170 contracting professionals and managed procurement actions exceeding $2.5 billion annually. Earlier roles at ICE included Unit Chief and Chief of Staff for the Office of Acquisition Management, giving her hands-on experience with a wide range of mission-critical programs.
Her federal career began at the IRS as a contract specialist, but Green’s experience also includes private-sector credentials. She owned and operated a small private aviation firm and held leadership roles in aviation training operations, bringing a unique small-business and entrepreneurial perspective to her public-sector work.
Green holds a Master of Science in Government Contracts from The George Washington University School of Business. She earned her bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Texas at Tyler.
