Border Security Expo Draws Record Crowd

A Border Security Expo held in Phoenix, Ariz., on March 6 and 7 drew a record 1,460 people from 42 states and 18 countries, including attendees from Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Vendors displayed a wide variety of border-related technology and hardware. Aurora Flight Services received an excellence in technology award for its Aurora Skate, a small, rapidly deployable, lightweight unmanned aircraft system capable of running for long periods on electric power.

The trade show and conference were mounted by the EJ Krause company. KMD Media, publisher of Homeland Security Today and the website, was a partner. Homeland Security Today was the official publication and produced the online show daily.

The keynote speaker for the event was Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R), who used the occasion to denounce what she described as lax federal border enforcement.
