Deputy Chief Information Officer Stephen Rice’s last day at the Department of Homeland Security is Friday as he moves to fill the DCIO role at Navy Federal Credit Union.
“The Department thanks Mr. Rice for his significant contributions to its Information Technology modernization initiatives and wishes him every success in his future endeavors,” DHS said last month when his move was announced.
Rice has served as DHS DCIO since June 2017. Before that, he spent more than a decade at the Transportation Security Administration, first as DCIO before moving up to chief information officer in March 2013.
Before the TSA, he worked as a security program manager at the Commerce Department.
Rice also worked at the U.S. Secret Service for nearly a decade, in both tech and intelligence jobs.
Joseph Harris, the executive director of IT service operations at the Department of Homeland Security, has been named acting deputy chief information officer at the department.
