Leidos Names Raytheon, Air Force Acquisition Vet Tim Freeman New Senior VP

Tim Freeman, a former Raytheon executive and military assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, has been hired as the senior vice president of business development for Leidos. Freeman, a 27-year Air Force veteran, will oversee the Reston, Va.-based Fortune 500 contractor’s defense group.

“Tim’s extensive military background and track record of driving growth and capture strategies will accentuate our customer relationships as we continue to expand our capabilities and markets,” Leidos’ executive vice president Roy Stevens said in a statement.

Freeman was previously a business development executive at Raytheon, overseeing more than $1 billion in range and border security systems, unmanned vehicle systems and other intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance programs. His military career included stints as the military assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force, and he commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels and as the program executive officer for Space Launch.

Freeman has a master’s degree in strategic studies from the Air War College, a master’s degree in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College, a master’s of science in administration degree from Central Michigan University, a bachelor of science degree in administration from Central Michigan University and a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
