KMD Media LLC Welcomes New Members to its Team

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 13, 2011—KMD Media LLC, the publisher of the award-winning Homeland Security Today, is pleased to announce the addition of Karen Pollard, Michael Ciota and Joanne Harap to its team.

Karen Pollard, Art Director
Karen Pollard, an award-winning graphic artist joins Homeland Security Today as its art director. Over the course of more than 25 years in graphic design and production, Karen has served as the Art Director for Hanley-Wood’s award-winning flagship magazine BUILDER, Director/Designer of Web Agency Division of the Magazine Group, and Creative Director/Art Director of Restore Media, LLC. She has received multiple Ozzie and SNAP awards for her work—both in print and on-line. Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts from Howard University.

Michael Ciota, Operations Manager
Michael Ciota is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of professional experience in financial services, marketing and media relations. In the mid 1990s, Mike worked for Kim Hanson, publisher of Homeland Security Today, at PRO-Media Sales & Consulting, Inc., developing applications for budgeting, commission tracking and forecasting. Other duties included composing/managing marketing campaigns, and consulting on finance and business development. For the past ten years, Mike served as a communications officer for the FHLBanks Office of Finance, representing a one trillion dollar wholesale banking cooperative. His responsibilities included media and investor relations, creating and coordinating messaging between the Banks and Office of Finance, and preparing marketing material and datasets for diverse groups such as central banks, sales teams, and government agencies. Mike holds an AS in Management, a BS in Psychology, and an MBA from George Mason University.

Joanne Harap, Production Director
Joanne Harap brings a unique combination of manufacturing knowledge, business acumen, savvy and instinct to publishing production management. Over the course of more than 25 years in the publishing world, including 9 years as Vice President, Production, at the publishing company Hanley Wood, Joanne has worked in every aspect of print and digital production management. Joanne is an adjunct professor at the George Washington University, teaching production management for the College of Professional Studies Master’s in Publishing program.
