The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced December 17 the expansion of its TSA PreCheck expedited screening program with the addition of Alitalia Airlines and Qantas Airways. These two airlines bring the total number of TSA PreCheck participating domestic and international carriers to 73.
The TSA PreCheck expedited screening program enables low-risk travelers to enjoy an efficient screening experience at more than 200 U.S. airports. For TSA PreCheck travelers, there is no need to remove shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts or light jackets. In November 2019, 93% of passengers in TSA PreCheck lanes waited less than five minutes despite record numbers of people traveling.
TSA PreCheck members who have enjoyed expedited screening since 2014 are now eligible to renew their membership. Individuals may renew up to six months before their membership expiration date.
