Border Patrol Stops $2.5M Cocaine Load in the Rio Grande Valley

Border Patrol agents seized 75 pounds of cocaine at the checkpoint in Sarita, Texas, on June 8.

In a news release, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said the agents referred a Dodge Caravan to a secondary inspection area to question the immigration status of an occupant inside the vehicle. During the inspection, agents found 30 bricks of cocaine with an estimated value of more than $2.5 million.

CBP said the driver and occupant were taken into custody.

The Department of Homeland Security was still investigating the case, according to CBP.
