CBP Has Made More Than 170,000 Border Apprehensions This Fiscal Year

Customs and Border Protection has released its latest enforcement statistics for FY 2018 to date, which covers October 2017 to March 2018, showing it has made 177,021 apprehensions.

The figures also show 112,482 total inadmissibles, which includes individuals presenting at the border for lawful entry to the U.S. but found to be inadmissible, those seeking humanitarian protection and those who withdraw applications and return to their country of origin.

The figures also reveal that CBP Field Operations encountered 5,558 criminal aliens in FY2018 to date, and U.S. Border Patrol encountered 4,064 criminal aliens.

In total, over 35,000 pounds of cocaine have been seized by CBP in FY 2018 to date, and over 467,000 pounds of marijuana have been seized in the same timeframe.

The figures also show a breakdown of apprehensions of known gang members, with 181 members of the notorious MS-13 gang having been apprehended to date.

In FY2017, officers and agents arrested more than 20,000 criminal aliens and nearly 11,000 individuals who were wanted by law enforcement authorities, and seized more than 2.14 million pounds of narcotics, including nearly 1,500 pounds of Fentanyl and other synthetic opioids.
