CBP Officers Shut Down Meth Smuggling Attempt Worth Over $6.6M at Laredo Port of Entry

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers intercepted a significant amount of hard narcotics with an estimated street value of more than $6.6 million in one enforcement action at World Trade Bridge.

“This was an excellent interception by our CBP officers and a great example of the layered enforcement implemented by CBP,” said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “The narcotics that were seized today are the kind that have been devastating the most vulnerable members of our communities.”

The seizure occurred on Wednesday, July 17, at the World Trade Bridge when a CBP officer referred a stake bed truck hauling a generator, for a secondary examination. During a canine and non-intrusive imaging inspection by CBP officers, a total of 50 packages were discovered containing a total of 333 pounds of alleged methamphetamine within the conveyance.

The narcotics have an estimated street value of $6,652,601.

CBP officers seized the narcotics. The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
