ERO Chicago removed an unlawfully present noncitizen wanted by law enforcement authorities in Honduras for murder.
Edwin Fernando Figueroa-Martinez, 35, entered the U.S. on an unknown date without being admitted, inspected or paroled by a U.S. immigration official. ERO Chicago officers arrested Figueroa-Martinez Aug. 15 in Lyons, Ill. and he was removed on a flight coordinated by ICE’s Air Operations Unit to Honduras Nov. 25. Upon arrival to his home country ERO turned Figueroa-Martinez over to local authorities without incident.
“As federal law enforcement officers, we are duty bound to protect communities across the U.S.,” said ERO Chicago Field Office Director Sam Olson. “We will do everything within our authority to locate, arrest, and detain those noncitizens that attempt to hide within our nation from being held responsible for crimes in their country of origin.”
