Frontex Launches Survey on Biometric Comparison Services

Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, is launching a survey regarding the provision of manual comparison services of biometric data – human resources.

The main objective of this survey is to provide the agency with an up-to-date picture of providers and formats available on the market.

More specifically, the survey is focused on the skills and training of human operators provided by companies on the international market who perform manual comparison of fingerprints and facial images, as well as the format of such services. In the future, the Agency may decide to make use of such services to assist the European Border and Coast Guard (EBCG) community via a tendering procedure, in line with the relevant public procurement applicable framework.

At present, European security and migration databases operate individually. However, as part of an effort to strengthen the EU’s internal security, these systems will soon be interconnected and the data which is currently stored in these systems will have to be processed.

Organizations interested in participating must complete the survey by August 31 23:59 Central European Time.

Find out more and complete the survey at the European Commission
