Three Bodies Found in Under 24 Hours in Rio Grande Valley

The bodies of three suspected illegal immigrants were discovered in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, Customs and Border Protection said Tuesday.

Authorities said the deceased migrants were abandoned by their smugglers in separate incidents, and multiple agencies led authorities to the discoveries.

Border Patrol agents working with trauma and rescue teams responded to a report Monday that, after several hours searching, led to a deceased person near Falfurrias, Texas. The body was transported to a local medical examiner’s office.

Later that day, National Guard teams led Fort Brown agents to the location of a dead individual near Brownsville, Texas. Emergency medical services transported a body to a local hospital.

Early Tuesday morning, a McAllen agent located a body in Mission, Texas. The Mission Police Department responded to the scene. The body was transported to a local morgue.

Officials in the Rio Grande Valley Sector urged immigrants not to “jeopardize their lives by illegally entering the United States or by attempting to circumvent a checkpoint.”
