Chemring Group announced the appointment of Steven F. Cummings (Colonel, USA-Ret) as Vice President Global Business Development and Strategy. In this new role, Mr. Cummings will be responsible for developing growth strategies that include all of Chemring’s business segments.
In coordination with his non-US counterpart, David McDonald, VP, Global Business Development and Strategy, Mr. Cummings will be responsible for business development initiatives of major sales efforts that support broad Chemring Group objectives. These will include international strategies, offset programs, and research and development investments.

Navarro, President Chemring North America. “When he joined our company last year, Steve was immediately successful in identifying new growth areas for Chemring. After a distinguished 28-year career in the US Army, Mr. Cummings joined Chemring in 2015 as Vice President, Business Development and Strategy. Retired at the rank of Colonel, Steve served in a number of significant Army leadership positions including Project Manager Close Combat Systems at PEO Ammunition, where he was responsible for procurement and management of more than 200 ammunition items and counter-IED equipment. He also personally led the training teams that were fielding that equipment in Afghanistan in 2011. During his final position in government as Project Director Joint Services, he led the conventional ammunition demilitarization program for the Department of Defense and was responsible for the modernization of the Army’s Government Owned Contractor Operated (GOCO) ammunition production facilities.
Steve holds multiple educational degrees, including a Bachelor of Science from the US Military Academy, an MBA from Clemson University and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College.
