Intelligent Software Solutions Supports Talisman Sabre 2015 Exercise With Its MAAPTK Mission Planning Software

Intelligent Software Solutions (ISS) announced that its MAAPTK (Master Air Attack Planning Toolkit) mission planning software played a critical role in the recent Talisman Sabre 2015 (TS15) military training exercise, one of the largest of its kind in the world.

TS15 is a biennial land, sea and air military training exercise between US and Australian forces that features more than 33,000 personnel, 21 ships, 200 aircraft and three submarines, which increases US-Australian interoperability to respond to a wide variety of contingencies and maintain security, peace, and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. The three week event wrapped up late last month.

MAAPTK 2.1.2.5, released in April 2015, provided force-level mission planning support at the 613th Air Operations Center at Hickam AFB, HI, as part of the exercise. MAAPTK, part of the ISS C2Core software suite, was used to enhance the ability of the Combined Forces Air Component Commander to plan and execute its mission for Talisman Sabre 2015. Used to plan both live fly missions and notional constructive missions, MAAPTK was the platform used to plan all Direct Support and Common Use sorties while maximizing the effectiveness of the combined air power of the US Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps as well as the Royal Australian Air Force.

While Talisman Sabre has been a bilateral exercise, members of the New Zealand Defense Forces participated as embedded units within the Australian Defence Force, and members of the Japan Self-Defense Force participated, for the first time, as embedded personnel within US military units.
