Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Baltimore has successfully apprehended a 27-year-old Dominican national wanted in his home country for manslaughter. The arrest, carried out by deportation officers from ERO Baltimore’s Fugitive Operations Team, took place at the individual’s residence in Baltimore on May 23.
“This Dominican national came to Maryland in an attempt to evade a serious charge in his home country,” stated ERO Baltimore Acting Field Office Director Matthew Elliston. “He posed a significant threat to our Maryland communities. ERO Baltimore will not allow Maryland to become a safe haven for the world’s criminals.”
The Dominican national had unlawfully entered the United States at an unknown date and location, bypassing inspection, admission, or parole by a U.S. immigration official. Dominican authorities had charged him with injury causing death/manslaughter/murder on September 21, 2022, and subsequently issued a warrant for his arrest.
The individual had previously come to the attention of U.S. authorities when the Dade County Police Department in Miami, Florida, cited him on May 4, 2023, for driving on the wrong side of the roadway. Further scrutiny was applied when, on May 13, 2024, ERO Philadelphia notified ERO Baltimore that his vehicle was found at the scene of a drug distribution and trafficking investigation in Baltimore.
Following these developments, ERO Baltimore’s Fugitive Operations Team moved swiftly to arrest the Dominican national at his Baltimore residence. He was subsequently served with a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge. The individual will remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of his removal proceedings.
ERO Baltimore remains committed to upholding public safety by ensuring that individuals who pose a threat to the community and evade justice in their home countries are held accountable and removed from the United States.
