NIST Withdraws 11 Outdated Computer Security Publications

The Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Computer Security Division has decided to withdraw eleven (11) SP 800 publications on Aug. 1. These publications are now out of date and will not be revised or superseded. After they are withdrawn, their details and links to the PDFs will remain available on CSRC for historical reference.

The publications predominantly come from the late ’90s and early 2000s and feature out-of-date technologies and operations systems that are no longer supported. Some are being pulled for not acknowledging or discussing other types of technologies, or the laws that have come with them.

The full list of the withdrawn publications can be found here.
