Tenable Network Security Announces Federal Sales Division to Meet Increasing Demand for Next-Generation Cybersecurity Solutions

Tenable Network Security, Inc., the leader in continuous network monitoring®, today announced it is expanding its focus on the federal market and has hired Darron Makrokanis to lead a new sales division dedicated to meeting the unique cybersecurity needs of federal customers.

“As the US federal government heightens cybersecurity efforts under the Cybersecurity National Action Plan, our federal teams will be working alongside our customers to solve some of their biggest security challenges,” said Mike Kirby, senior vice president of worldwide sales, Tenable Network Security. “With impressive depth and breadth of experience within the defense, intelligence and law enforcement communities, Darron will lead Tenable’s federal expansion and help our customers defend complex networks against the cyber threats of today and tomorrow.”

Makrokanis most recently served as senior business development executive and program manager for Splunk, overseeing strategic partnerships and alliances with federal systems integrators (FSIs). Prior to that, he worked at Booz Allen Hamilton where he managed business development efforts for various US government organizations including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Defense (DoD). Earlier in his career, Makrokanis oversaw criminal investigations and special operations for two DC-metro area counties for 10 years and currently serves as an officer in the US Navy Reserves.

“Tenable is a great company with a long history providing the DoD and the full range of federal agencies with security solutions that help protect the nation’s most critical networks,” said Makrokanis. “I look forward to expanding and further strengthening the relationships with our FSIs and channel partners to enable the federal community to deliver on its security promises.”

Tenable enables customers to visualize their security status, providing real-time situational awareness to identify threats and solve some of today’s toughest security challenges. Unique sensors deliver a holistic view of overall network health and help customers measure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity. With the industry’s only Cybersecurity Framework dashboards, Tenable makes it easy for both public sector and private sector CISOs to answer the question “How secure are we?”
