Irregular Warfare Center’s PRISM Journal Issues Call for Manuscripts and Peer Reviewers

The Irregular Warfare Center (IWC) is inviting submissions and volunteers for its flagship publication, PRISM: The Journal of Complex Operations, as part of two new calls – one for manuscripts and another for peer reviewers.

Published semi-annually, PRISM serves as a key forum for thought leadership in national and international security affairs, with a focus on challenges that extend beyond conventional military domains. The journal seeks to bridge academic research and policy application, providing insights relevant to military, diplomatic, and interagency professionals around the world.

According to the IWC, PRISM’s mission is “to provide unique insight for current and future national security leaders on emerging challenges beyond strictly the military domain,” encompassing topics such as transnational and multi-domain threats, gray zone and irregular conflict, hybrid warfare, emerging technologies including AI and cyber, and geoeconomic competition.

Call for Manuscripts

PRISM is now accepting manuscripts for upcoming issues and welcomes submissions from policymakers, practitioners, and scholars. The journal encourages contributions that introduce fresh ideas, enduring insights, or best practices related to modern security challenges. Both established experts and emerging voices, including early-career professionals, are encouraged to submit.

As a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal, PRISM prioritises rigorous scholarship that remains practical and relevant to today’s security environment. Articles are selected for their ability to inform decision-makers and to serve as reference material in the development of national and international security policy.

Call for Peer Reviewers

In parallel, PRISM is expanding its peer reviewer network to support its growing range of topics. The journal is seeking subject matter experts (SMEs) with experience in fields such as irregular warfare, hybrid threats, emerging technologies, cyber operations, or geopolitical and economic competition.

Ideal candidates will have prior peer-review experience and a record of published research or policy work in relevant areas. Reviewers are expected to provide constructive, scholarly feedback that strengthens the journal’s ongoing commitment to analytical depth and quality.

About PRISM

As the Irregular Warfare Center’s flagship publication, PRISM aims to serve as a vital resource for academics, practitioners, and policymakers seeking evidence-based perspectives on the evolving nature of global security. The journal’s editorial approach reflects a balance between academic rigour and policy relevance, ensuring its work remains actionable and widely cited within the defence and security community.

Those interested in submitting a manuscript or volunteering as a peer reviewer are encouraged to contact the Irregular Warfare Center and become part of the effort to advance research and dialogue on the complex challenges shaping the 21st-century security landscape.
