The Cow Valley Fire burning in Eastern Oregon is seeing some much-needed progress for the nearly 400 personnel on the ground, and the communities the fire has threatened.
The latest information provided by fire managers states the Cow Valley Fire is now 77 percent contained. Fire crews faced thunderstorms and gusty winds through much of Wednesday morning, but the efforts over the last week to connect fire lines and extinguish hot spots appear to have paid dividends as there was minimal fire growth reported.
Lightning strikes from the thunderstorm did start new fires in the area, one of which firefighters were able to quickly douse with an estimated 1,400 gallons of water. The report says firefighters “Are confident it will not grow.”
