How to Protect Yourself from Fentanyl Exposure

First responders encounter drugs or drug paraphernalia every day. To help you learn about exposure risks from illicit drugs, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health added the Illicit Drug Toolkit for First Responders to its worker protection resource library. The toolkit’s resources show you how to protect yourself from exposure to fentanyl and other illicit drugs.

The toolkit contains:

  • Videos that will help you to understand the risks and what you can do to protect yourself from exposure to illicit drugs.
  • Infographics that show safety measures for first responders.
  • Postcards with tips to protect you from exposure.

You will also find extensive information about personal protective clothing and equipment, training, decontamination, and handling exposure to working dogs.
