CRR Week is a grass-roots effort by an informal group of fire safety professionals from across the nation. The idea is to help promote the awareness of Community Risk Reduction within the fire service by having a week where everyone can do CRR programs and demonstrate its importance to the fire service.
CRR Week 2022 kicks off on Martin Luther King Day, a National Day of Service, which is Monday, January 17, 2022. It runs through Sunday, January 23.
A community risk reduction (CRR) program can help your department take what you already know (are probably already doing!) and intentionally focus knowledge and activities to lower the all-hazards risks within your area of operation.
Fire departments are uniquely positioned to know their communities better than most other organizations. Firefighters and emergency medical services responders see firsthand, whether through medical calls, inspections or simply driving through the community, how people live and the needs they have.
It’s a great opportunity to help raise awareness among members of your department about the value of CRR in making your community safer, which firefighters safer.
